Welcome to the FSOSW Website
The Florida Society of Oncology Social Workers (FSOSW) is a state organization for professional social work clinicians, administrators, educators, and researchers.The American Cancer Society, Florida Division, and a Social Work Advisory Committee in 1983 established FSOSW to support social workers dedicated to the enhancement of psychosocial services to cancer patients and their families.FSOSW’s primary functions include; maintaining the standards of oncology social work practice, offering professional education programs and providing a valuable network of resource services to its members.
FSOSW has structured the state organization into 14 regions to promote state unification of all social workers as a core profession in oncology.
GOALS
- Promote the highest professional standards and ethics in practice on oncology social work.
- Foster communication and support among oncology social workers
- Advance oncology social work practice and knowledge through regional and state continuing education.
- Advocate for programs and policies to meet the psychosocial needs of oncology patients and their families.
- Promote liaison activities with the American Cancer Society and other professional organizations.
