Program Coordinator, South Florida

Lauren’s Light seeks a passionate and motivated individual to fill a part time position (approximately 20 hours per week) as Program Coordinator to manage its psychological counseling and educational programs. This is a unique opportunity to gain experience with an up and coming nonprofit in the South Florida area; offers flexible hours and the chance to work in a great team environment.
Lauren’s Light is a nonprofit organization, based in South Florida, whose mission is to empower families with young children, in which a parent has been diagnosed with cancer, through resources and information, to better address medical, psychological and administrative challenges. Lauren’s Light currently supports these families by offering individual and family counseling as well as access to educational information, at no cost to its clients.
Essential Job Functions
- Coordinate therapy services for Lauren’s Light families
- Manage and communicate with families, problem solve, address questions and concerns and assist in finding additional services needed
- Work closely with Executive Director on program growth and implementation
- Maintain relationships with community social service providers; attend outreach meetings and presentations
- Database and reporting coordination
- Administrative tasks as needed
Requirements – Experience/ Education
- Minimum educational requirement – Bachelor’s degree; area of social service is preferred (social work, counseling, psychology)
- 1 year experience in program coordinator role or equivalent practicum/internship experience
- Excellent writing, interpersonal and communication skills necessary
- Must be able to function independently and to exercise discretion and judgment in sensitive and confidential matters
- Must have excellent organizational skills and be extremely detail-oriented
- Broad computer skills required, including word-processing and databases
Other Skills/Abilities
- Bilingual preferred
- Case management experience a plus
- Community involvement experience a plus
