The Nominations Committee is proud to announce this year’s recipient of the American Cancer Society’s Leadership in Oncology Social Work Award went to Marcia DeSonier. Marcia has worked in oncology for over 20 years and has been a champion for the American Cancer Society programs and partnership. Congratulations, Marcia!

Nominations Needed:

In October, we will need to elect a new President-Elect, Treasurer and Secretary. This is a great opportunity to serve others through the Executive Board of FSOSW. The job descriptions are as follows:

President-Elect – serves a one-year term and stands ready to assume the duties of the President, which is a two-year term. This person attends all board meetings and act as a liaison between the Board and Regional Coordinators.

Secretary – serves a two-year term and records, publishes and maintains all minutes of the Board and business meetings. They attend all board meetings. Some previous secretaries have utilized recording devices to help capture all the information.

Treasurer – serves a two-year term and is responsible for all financial transactions and records for FSOSW. We have access to a CPA, so it’s no more difficult than balancing your own checkbook.

If you are interested in opening yourself up to new challenges and the opportunity for travel (depending on where you live and the meetings are being held), please consider serving on the FSOSW Executive Board. It’s a great way to meet and build relationships with other oncology social workers throughout the state.
