25th Anniversary Conference on the Carnival Destiny

October 16-20, 2008

Have you ever had a massage in the morning and learned about new support groups in the afternoon? Discussed treating claustrophobia and then had a cool drink at a beachside restaurant in Mexico? Listened to a presentation on the resilience and creativity of oncology social workers…and then learned how to enjoy a sunset from the middle of the ocean?

The Florida Society of Oncology Social Workers is celebrating its 25th Anniversary this year…and we are going to do it in style! This year’s conference is designed to give oncology clinicians a place to learn, network and rejuvenate, all while aboard a beautiful cruise liner headed to Key West and Cozumel. The unique nature of this conference will allow you to enjoy a fabulous lunch buffet or a stroll on the beach, as well as obtain 12 CEU’s provided by leaders in the field of psychosocial oncology.

Through discussion and interactive presentation, 2008 conference participants will be able to:

  • Gain increased awareness aboutthe history of Oncology Social Work including challenges that our field has overcome over in the last century.
  • Increased knowledge about current programs (strengths and challenges) throughout our state, region and nationally with a view to improve our own practice.
  • Demonstrate understanding of our future challenges as oncology social workers AND improve our practice/knowledge base today to prepare us for the future.
  • Improve our clinical skills in oncology social work by exploring evolving evidenced-based clinical interventions.

During this conference, we will also be highlighting the people who, through their time, energy and love of their profession, have made FSOSW what it is today. Other unique activities will include an on-board welcome reception for conference attendees and their families/friends and a beach party in Cozumel. From the very first members to people who aren’t members (yet!), this conference will be a place where all can gather to invest in their profession, their collegial and personal relationships and themselves! We hope that you will join us for this fun and unique experience. Happy 25th FSOSW!
